A list of my favorite places in the city
Olfactory Art Keller
an indie scent gallery (art gallery but for smells) in Two Bridges, Chinatown (free)
Fried Dumpling
elderly lady looks at u with disdain and coughs on your food before charging you $5 for 13 dumplings. eat them in the park across the street and watch elderly people do karaoke and smoke and play mahjong
burp castle
gregorian-themed bar where you have to whisper or the bartender will shush you
russian & turkish baths
old-world euro-style bathhouse. irresponsibly hot saunas, 34deg cold plunge pool
public records
where to go if you wanna feel very hip and do some dancing to lowkey house music
the get together
not a place, but an event series/community. somatically-aware dancing, dance like nobody’s watching, dance ugly/sexy, dance through your pain and joy. an event built for getting into your body and really experiencing the joys and beauty of dancing. tasha blank is a masterful DJ and community-builder. link
