my beliefs
- The quickest way to get to where you want to go is to love everybody and tell the truth.
- Everyone has something to teach you.
- Work is good for the soul (not all, but most).
- Apply more dakka. We underestimate how much of a solution we should throw at our problems.
- Memorization is a very underrated skill (poems, docs, languages, wildlife, geography, anything), and is a form of devotion.
- Video games are probably really bad for you but some are worth it.
- Long days are better than short days, and doing boring/slow things is a powerful way to increase the length of your day.
- There is a ton of breadth inside depth. If you go deep, you will inevitably also go wide, so focus on going deep.
- Let a hundred flowers bloom. Write a thousand roads to Rome. It’s okay (and even good) to make something that’s already been made.
- The best activities for deep contentedness/happiness: metta, weightlifting, dancing, doing work you’re proud of, cooking, positive interactions with strangers
- Unfortunately, happiness is not addictive and you have to remember to seek it out.
